  
The risk of being convicted of a speeding offence with speed camera evidence is now an everyday consideration for most motorists. While opinions of the use and deployment of fixed and mobile speed cameras is heavily debated, one fact is certain - speed cameras are here to stay!
A GPS Speed Camera Wasrning System can greatly reduce the chances of incurring a speeding penalty, by informing the driver of on-coming risk areas. Some systems available also warn of known 'Blackspots' and other particular speed risk areas such as school entrances.
GPS warning systems generally operate using the same technology, although more expensive systems will generally feature a higher specification and more options. The system senses the position of the vehicle using GPS information which is transmitted from satellites orbiting the Earth. Accurate vehicle speed and travelling direction can also be calculated using GPS information. The warning system continually monitors the vehicle position, speed and direction and compares this information against a database of known speed camera locations. If you are approaching a risk area, an alert is produced.
Each product uses a continuously updated Speed Camera Location Database. A free subscription period to update the database held within the warning system is included with every product. During the subscription period, the device can be connected to an internet ready computer and updated as required (weekly updating is advisable) to ensure that the database is always current. Subscription renewal is also performed on-line.
For customers concerned about the lawfulness of the use of these devices, all of the systems offered for sale in our on-line store are currently legal for UK road use. The proposed 2005 Road Safety Bill from the Department for Transport may outlaw 'Speed Assesment Equipment" which will mean that using radar and laser detecting devices will become illegal. GPS based locating & warning systems will be un-affected by the new legislation. Similarly, any system which features a detachable laser or radar detector will remain legal if the laser or radar detection part of the system is removed.
