GPS Fleet Tracking
GPS Fleet Tracking
Since being ‘switched on’ in 1993 when the 24th Navstar satellite entered its orbit, GPS (Global Positioning System) has been optimized and modified for many commercial uses. One such industry that has seen a significant impact in the way it works has been the fleet management industry.
GPS fleet tracking works by way of a device installed in a vehicle, a central server and fleet management software to access the information.
All GPS devices fitted to fleet vehicles will provide vehicle location, speed and direction of travel information by default. This information is automatically provided by a constellation of Global Positioning satellites.
Information transmitted to a central server is then available to the GPS Fleet Tracking provider and a Fleet Company owner logs onto the tracking companies secure web server via a fleet management system to access their vehicle data.
