This reprogramming service is specifically for Nissan Skyline 350GT speedometers which only show speed on a KMH basis and is ideal for vehicles imported from Japan in to the UK.
The conversion is suitable for vehicles requiring an ESVA or SVA test.
Reprogrammed Speedometer Functions
After programming, the speedometer will show an MPH readout on the existing speedo scale; i.e. travelling at 30 MPH the speedo needle will be pointing at '30', changing the speedometer face is not required.
The odometer reading which previously represented Kilometers is converted to an equivalent mileage i.e. if the odometer reading initially shows 16,000 - after programming it will show 10,000. The odometer will also now increment in miles.
A small adhesive black dot is used to obscure the 'K' symbol on the speedometer face so that 'm/h' is shown, representing 'miles per hour'.
Please note : Speedometer re-programming does not remove the factory set road speed limit! An independent CAN Bus delimiter will be required, available here!
Removing the speedometer
Please note : It is advisable to remove the negative cable connection from the battery and wait 30 minutes before commencing dis-assembly.
To remove the Skyline speedometer from the vehicle, unscrew the steering column plastic cover from below. With the cover removed, unclip the indicator and wiper control stalks. The entire speedometer assembly is retained by four 10mm bolts from underneath. With the bolts removed, gently manoever the assembly forward and unclip the wiring plugs at the rear of the speedometer.
The speedometer can now be removed from the outer plastic hood by removing the retaining screws.
