The SpeedM8-CAN system provides a cost effective solution for converting the existing KMH speedometer scale to an MPH scale without the need to change the speedometer face.
The CAN Bus system is a digital signal network which is used on most modern vehicles to relay information between electronic control units. The SpeedM8-CAN interface is installed at the rear of the speedometer and works by intercepting speed data contained within the vehicle CAN Bus and re-writing it to an MPH representative format.
Our SpeedM8-CAN converter is suitable for installation to vehicles requiring an ESVA or SVA test.
Compatibility
This interface is compatible only with the below vehicles:
- Nissan Micra 2003 >
- Nissan March 2003 >
For other vehicle applications, please refer to the application menu.
Installation
The interface is installed at the rear of the speedometer and requires four connections to the CAN Bus wiring together with connection to a permanent power supply. The vehicle CAN Bus is a simple twisted pair of wires which need to be cut one at a time and fitted with the supplied bullet connectors. Wiring connections are as below:
- CAN HI Input
- CAN LO Input
- CAN HI Output
- CAN LO Output
- Permanent 12v+
- Ground 0v
The interface loom features pre bulleted CAN wire connections for ease of installation. Full installation instructions are supplied with the interface.
A small black adhesive dot is supplied to cover the 'K' of the KMH symbol on the speedometer face. This leaves only the 'M/H' lettering visible, which is completely acceptable by ESVA standards.
After installation of the interface, the speedometer will display an MPH reading on the existing speedometer scale and the vehicle odometer will increment in miles instaed of kilometers.
