Unique speed calibration ability SpeedM8 is the only speed converter that allows you to real-time' calibrate a vehicle’s speedometer. The data for each model in the SpeedM8 database carries accurate speed information. An in-built ‘Virtual Speedometer’ has been designed to accommodate the accuracy factor used for SVA testing and gives the user an accurate reading of vehicle speed, rather than relying on the speed shown on the speedometer. Fine calibration can be required and, for this, the speedometer reading can be incremented or decremented using controls on the PDA touch screen to match the reading produced by the Virtual Speedometer.

Accurate speed measurement and calibration is critical as current SVA criteria allow the vehicle speedometer to show over-speed' by up to 15%. But if the speedometer shows under speed' by as little as 1mph, the test is failed; an important factor for anyone sending a vehicle in for SVA as a failure could incur a re-test fee.
